early stuff
Well firstly I’ll tell you about how I got into the bike-racing scene. Well my dad has always been interested in bikes,
and he bought us some tickets to see British Super bikes at Brands Hatch. When we got there I noticed that there was a small track next to the actual racetrack and a mini moto dealer was renting out his bikes for people to have a go on. I begged and begged my dad to let my have a go on one and after what seemed like ages of begging he finally gave in.
So he paid the money which I recall was quite expensive. After my 15minute session the people who were renting
out the bikes came up to me and asked if I had ridden a bike before, and when I told him that I hadn’t he was astonished and he let me have another 30minutes on the track for free! Then after the 30minutes he told my dad I had real potential and he asked me to go to a larger track in Lydd for a trial. So a few weeks later my dad got a call and we was told were to go and when. We turned up at the track and there were 3 other boys. So all 4 of us went out on the track and by the end of the day I had the quickest lap times out of all of us. So I was chosen to race for the company.
They bought me leathers and two bikes, a DM 4.2 mini and a DM 8.5 midi. But soon the company stopped selling bikes because they were in debt and some other things were not right.
My dad did a deal and paid off some of their debts to let us keep the bikes and leathers.
My dad sold the DM’s because one was a midi and one a mini and the riding style on each was different. So we bought two new Zpf’s. These are the make of bikes that Valentino Rossi started on.
